About Us

The East Brunswick Regional Charitable Foundation was incorporated in November 1999 as a 501(c)(3) organization with the goal of giving back to the community.

            Today we sponsor a number of community causes, including the following education related programs:

  • The David J. Germain, Sr. Memorial Community Service Scholarships awarded to graduating high school seniors for the past 40 years.
  • These cash awards are reserved for qualifying college bound students who reside in the communities of East Brunswick, Milltown, South River and Spotswood.  Criteria include academic achievement, financial consideration, leadership ability and extra-curricula school and community activities.  Germain Scholarship Application.

    • The Dr. Michael and Marlene Nissenblatt Scholarship Awards, established in 2004, given to medical students pursuing their education in conventional western and/or traditional eastern (Chinese) medicine.

    The scholarships honor the Nissenblatts’ legacy of service and humanitarian contributions to our greater community and are intended for future caregivers who will bring the human touch back to the bedside.  The Charitable Foundation recognizes those individuals who it believes will follow in the footsteps of Michael and MarleneNissenblatt Scholarship Application.

    The Dan Bonamici Community Service Award was established to honor the Foundation’s first Treasurer, who passed away in 2003.  Bonamici funds have benefitted Spotswood causes, such as:

    • The Spotswood High School DUI Crash Program;
    • The Spotswood Police Academy;
    • The DARE Program, and
    • The Police Department’s Community Policing Program.

    The Foundation continues to sponsor various community service programs in the greater East Brunswick area as we have in the past.  Some of these programs include:

    • Food and holiday gifts to families in need, particularly at holiday times;
    • Local communities’ rescue squads;
    • Boy and Girl Scout troops;
    • High School DUI Crash Programs;
    • The local YMCA camp, and
    • Small contributions to non-profit groups on an as-requested basis
